Prototype
A prototype is needed during the production of new parts to determine the ideal process and ensure the most cost-effective manufacturing. A prototype is also used to test how the planned geometry can be implemented.
A prototype is the initial version or working model of a new product or invention. A prototype is designed and tested to assess the feasibility of a design and identify problems that need to be corrected. Building a prototype is a key step in the development of new products.
The materials used, the manufacturing process, and the final result may differ significantly from the finished product. Since the prototype is only a rough version of the intended product, it is not necessarily required at this stage to use high-quality materials or invest a great deal of time in the precision of its construction.
Prototypes can serve various purposes. For example, they can be used to evaluate a design, test functions, and identify opportunities for improvement.
The process of developing ideas and optimizing prototypes is called prototyping. It encompasses the entire process from the first prototype to final approval. This process ultimately leads to individual production or mass production.
Prototypes are not necessarily physical objects. Prototypes of services or systems can also be tested.
